Not since W. J. Couper produced his Reformed Presbyterian Church in Scotland, It’s Congregations, Ministers and Students, in 1925 and Matthew Hutchison’s The Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland published in 1893 has there been any published reference work, of any kind, on the continuing denomination.
The above authors refused to acknowledge the Reformed Presbyterian denomination after the Union of the Majority Synod with the Free Church in 1876.
In this volume James Dickson traces the history of the Ministers and Congregations from 1680 to the present day. A short biography of the Ministers who served the church and a brief history of each congregation is given.
A useful reference work, enhanced by a bibliography of the printed works of Reformed Presbyterian ministers, two additional appendices, an historical introduction and illustrations throughout.
Appendix 1. – Protestation
Appendix 2. – The Breach
Appendix 3. – Bibliography of the writings of the Ministers of the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Scotland
